When it comes to contactless read technologies, there are active and passive transponders. The widely-used passive RFID technology, which is also the one that we deploy, does not require any energy supply but draws the power it needs from the high-frequency signal emitted by a reader device. As opposed to the active transponders therefore, passive transponders do not require any battery.
Depending on the application, it can be necessary to modify the data that is stored in the passive RFID chip or to read data from or write data to a different location. The LEGIC advant®, Mifare DESFire EV1 und NFC (near field communication) read technologies are characterised by a high degree of flexibility, data protection and investment security.
