The bico management team had a very clear idea of the requirements that the access control and time and attendance solution should cover: 

• Access control should control access to the various areas of the company
• The employees' access rights should be in line with their scope of activities within the company
• The Time & Attendance should cover the various requirements of worktime and absence management called for by production, field staff and administration
• The staff working times had to be assigned to cost centres thereby facilitating profit centre calculations
• The solution must be tried-and-tested and the supplier had to be able to provide a corresponding certificate of performance

After intensive research and discussions, bico chose the prime WebSystems solution from primion AG, Switzerland. The introduction posed a challenge to all concerned as it had to be done within a very short timeframe. The existing access system for which the installation manuals and system descriptions had long disappeared, was seamlessly replaced. Electronic Time & Attendance was introduced from scratch. Through internal restructuring, bico had already modified the corresponding working rules and set up the necessary organisational structures for the introduction of prime WebSystems. The management team also decided to go for a short test implementation, just to check whether the rules could be implemented in practice and that no points had been overlooked.

During this introductory phase, all this involved had the opportunity to acclimatise themselves to the new procedures. The decision makers at bico were pleased to establish that, thanks to the good work done during the planning and introduction phases, the system was able to take over the required tasks on time and was delivering the required benefits.
